Summer Movies Under the Stars
The Miami Jewish Film Festival and the City of Miami Beach’s OnStage! program are thrilled to announce the third annual Summer Movies Under the Stars film series that will be hosted for free outdoors over the next three months. From June 15 through August 17, the series will bring classics, family favorites, and exciting blockbusters across the city each Thursday night starting at 8:30pm. All the events are open to the public and will be presented at four different public parks in Miami Beach, including Lummus Park, Collins Park, Altos Del Mar Park, and even on Lincoln Road. The program is dedicated to safely bringing the South Florida community together around the shared cinematic experiences that the Miami Jewish Film Festival is known for.
The series kicks off on June 15 at Lummus Park with a special presentation of the biggest animated film of the year The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and continues at Collins Park with a newly restored presentation of the beloved musical Grease starring John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John, as well as a special 30th anniversary presentation of the family classic The Sandlot. The series returns to Lummus Park on July 6 for a big screen showing of Marvel's superhero epic of gargantuan proportions, Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania.
Starting July 13, the summer program moves to Altos Del Mar Park for three breathtakingly fun movies: the 20th anniversary of Pixar's Academy Award-winner Finding Nemo, the sweetly joyous fantasy Luca, and the Robin Williams Academy Award-winning family comedy Mrs. Doubtfire, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary on the big screen on Thursday, July 27.
Closing out the series at Lummus Park are the fantastically fun Hollywood blockbuster Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Rege-Jean Page, as well as the critically acclaimed Judy Blume adaption Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. starring Academy Award nominees Rachel McAdams & Kathy Bates.
Finally, wet your beak and indulge in Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece of suspense The Birds in a special under the stars 60th anniversary presentation on Lincoln Road on Thursday, August 17. What Spielberg did for the ocean, Hitchcock did for the skies!
Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket, lawn chairs, drinks, snacks, and even pets to the movies to make themselves at home.
