The Deluge: Postscriptum
East Coast Premiere
The Deluge: Postscriptum offers a captivating behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the iconic Polish historical film The Deluge, which was nominated for an Oscar in 1974. Despite facing an anti-Semitic campaign from the Polish People's Authorities in the late 1960s, director Jerzy Hoffman persevered to complete Colonel Wolodyjowski, paving the way for The Deluge—the most expensive production in Polish cinema history. This documentary explores Hoffman's resilience as he battled production challenges, government distrust, and the weight of national expectations, all while capturing the vibrant life story of a cinematic visionary.
