Marathon Mother tells the inspiring story of Beatie Deutsch, an ultra-Orthodox Jewish mother of five who, after a pause from athletics to focus on her family, reignites her passion for running. In 2015, driven by a personal promise and the challenges of motherhood, Beatie embarks on a rigorous journey to complete a marathon. As she trains with dreams of becoming an Olympian, her remarkable journey transcends the track, embodying a powerful message of perseverance and empowerment. Through her story, Beatie inspires other women to embrace their dreams and overcome their own challenges.
Director's Bio
Directed by Rebecca Shore & Oren Rosenfeld
Rebecca Shore is an Orthodox mother of nine, artist, educator, and award-winning filmmaker. She wrote and directed the documentary When the Smoke Clears, produced the acclaimed Sustainable Nation, and has also been involved in several high-profile projects, including Beneath the Helmet, which was featured on Netflix, Israel Inside for PBS, and Mekonen: Journey of an African Jew, all of which premiered at the Miami Jewish Film Festival. Oren Rosenfeld has worked as a photojournalist covering major events in Israel and the larger region since 1999. He is an accomplished filmmaker and has produced and directed numerous documentaries for major networks, including the BBC, History Channel, and National Geographic. His work includes The Real Fauda and One Day in Gaza, earning Emmy nominations three years in a row for his productions on Vice for HBO.
