Man on Earth

Miami Premiere

Australian filmmaker Amiel Courtin-Wilson has spent four years researching the current trends in society’s approach to death and dying. His focus takes a poignant turn when he encounters Bob, who wants his last week on earth documented. Bob Rosenzweig, a 65-year-old Jewish resident of Washington state, holds a remarkable life story. Having participated in Woodstock in 1969 and hung out with icons like Blondie and the Sex Pistols in New York City, he boasts a career designing for luminaries such as Elton John, Janet Jackson, and Versace. Amidst his extraordinary experiences, Bob, who grapples with Parkinson's disease, embarks on a profound decision — to bring his life to an end. Man on Earth captures the essence of this journey with unparalleled intimacy. Through candid direct-to-camera interviews and real-time observations, the documentary chronicles Bob's final days as he seeks reconciliation with his family, the love of his life, and most importantly, himself. Throughout the passing days, an unexpected bond forms between the dying subject and the filmmaker, evolving into a deep friendship. The result is a poignant and genuine portrait that studies the grace of approaching mortality, characterized by raw and unflinching sincerity.
