In the tradition of István Szabó's Sunshine, Miracle in Krakow tells the story of Peter, a young Jewish Hungarian who grew up with his grandmother in Budapest, and her secret. The family ones owned a valuable book-collection, which was confiscated by the Nazi's during WWII. Among the collection was a book of magic his grandmother talked about every day till she died. Peter, now a bookseller, becomes obsessed with finding the book. When he locates a young girl who has the book he is faced with a new dilemma: in the process of trying to steal the book he has fallen in love.
