Milestone 10th Screening the Holocaust Series Lineup Announced
The Miami Jewish Film Festival (MJFF) is proud to headline the 10th anniversary of its Screening the Holocaust Series with a special free community screening of Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire, winner of the MJFF 2025 Torchbearer Prize. Presented in partnership with the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, the event will take place on Monday, November 3 at 7pm at the historic Miami Beach Bandshell, with acclaimed director Oren Rudavsky in attendance for an extended discussion. This milestone year marks a decade of featuring films that illuminate Holocaust history, remembrance, and moral courage.
The film offers unprecedented access to Wiesel’s family and personal archives, presenting an intimate portrait of the Nobel laureate whose words and actions transformed the global conversation on human rights and Holocaust remembrance. It traces Wiesel’s journey from his childhood in Sighet, Romania—a once-vibrant Jewish community devastated by the Holocaust—to his emergence as a moral beacon on the world stage. Through Wiesel’s own storytelling, the film highlights the enduring power of asking the right questions and the courage to confront injustice.

The 10th anniversary Screening the Holocaust Series continues for a full year with several other powerful films. On Thursday, October 30 at 7pm at O Cinema South Beach, the series presents The Last Ones of Auschwitz, which world premiered at the 2025 MJFF. The film shares the final onscreen testimony of David Schaecter, devoted philanthropist, community leader, and founder of the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, who passed away earlier this month. The event honors his memory, and director Leslie Benitah will participate in a post-screening conversation.
On Tuesday, December 9, the series presents For the Living, co-directed by Marc Bennett & Tim Roper, a moving documentary that follows 250 cyclists retracing the 60-mile journey of a 10-year-old Holocaust survivor from Auschwitz to Krakow as part of Ride for the Living. Director Tim Roper will attend the screening and participate in an extended conversation after the film.
The Screening the Holocaust series has gained recognition for its thought-provoking selection of films that offer diverse perspectives on Holocaust history, bringing personal narratives to life while honoring the memory of those who lived through these harrowing events. This year’s program is no exception, with a lineup that includes both new releases and critically acclaimed favorites, all chosen to educate, inspire, and reflect on the complexities of the human experience during one of history’s most defining periods.
The Screening the Holocaust series is a free public event. If you enjoy this program and all that MJFF provides year-round to our community, then consider supporting us and becoming a Member today so we can continue presenting the best in world cinema through our dynamic programs.
The Screening the Holocaust Series is presented in collaboration with the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference), the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, the Holocaust Teacher’s Institute, and The University of Miami’s Sue and Leonard Miller Center for Contemporary Judaic Studies.
