MJFF Named One of the 50 Best Festivals in the World for the Third Year in a Row!
We are thrilled to announce that for the third year in a row, our Miami Jewish Film Festival has been named one of the "50 Best Film Festivals in the World" by MovieMaker Magazine, one of the film industry's most celebrated publications. We are so deeply proud to once again receive this distinct honor, the first time ever that a Jewish film festival has not only been recognized by this prestigious magazine, but for three consecutive years!
We celebrate this landmark achievement with our loyal film lovers and supporters, members and sponsors, filmmakers and artists, and everyone who has ever championed our work. Since its launch 25 years ago, the Miami Jewish Film Festival has proven its relevance year after year and has been a driving force behind the circulation of Jewish and Israeli films and talents around the world, even in places where Jewish films aren't usually available.
At a time when there is an alarming rise in antisemitism and hate crimes, MJFF is proud to have stood strong together as one community and offered its entire 2022 virtual film program for free, giving more than 60,000 moviegoers the opportunity to experience, be inspired by, and celebrate its 148 film premieres, 160 international artists, and more than 70 notable scholars representing 25 countries. Including its year-round program, nearly 85,000 audience members experienced the Festival this year.
Despite so many immense challenges, the Miami Jewish Film Festival experienced a historic level of attendance at its milestone 25th Edition. A hybrid two-week event that was presented virtually nationwide and under-the-stars throughout Greater Miami, the 2022 Festival boasted the largest-ever audience in the Festival’s quarter-century history drawing viewers from all 50 states, again making the event the largest festival of its kind in the world. More importantly, the Festival helped create unique opportunities to connect different cultures, helped build new relationships among interfaith communities, helped foster intergenerational conversations, and helped present events on urgent issues that matter to us all.
This year’s Miami Jewish Film Festival also held so many deeply moving and eye-opening experiences for our community. It reminded us of the place that cinema has in our lives, as an art form and a shared experience, which has the power to educate, inspire hope, and remind us of humanity’s strength. This is at the heart of what our Festival is all about, and why we are so proud to share this incredible recognition with all of our fans and supporters, who make all the work we do possible.
As we look ahead to our 26th edition, we start a new chapter filled with limitless possibilities. We look forward to reuniting with you on January 12-26, 2023, when our dazzling city will once again become a centerpiece of live entertainment as we discover the magic of movies together again!
