Purple Bells

International Premiere

Winner at the DocAviv Film Festival, Purple Bells intricately weaves the narrative of Danni, a second-generation immigrant hailing from the Soviet Union, whose relationship with his parents had been marred by shame. In a poignant exploration, the film chronicles Danni's transformative journey as he comes to terms with his past. Through a series of interviews, he delves into the rich tapestry of his parents' lives, unraveling their incredible tale. The film's captivating storytelling is elevated by extraordinary animation, vividly reimagining their experiences in Soviet Russia and their subsequent Aliyah to Israel. As Danni seeks to forge a deeper connection with his heritage, the animated sequences serve as both a commemoration of their arduous journey and a means of gleaning invaluable lessons from it.
